Is it the most well written book I have ever read? Certainly not. But I couldn't stop, the story was so dang compelling! Does Meyer have the gift of language, every word carefully chosen, every sentence artfully crafted, and every paragraph layered with meaning? No. She is a very gifted storyteller and I don't think anyone can argue with that, even if some hated the ending. There was too much dialogue for my taste. I also felt that the descriptions of things were repetitive: "Run a patrol around the house, argue with Leah, phase back, exchange insults with smelly vampires, phase back again, run another patrol, etc." If there had been a war, it would have added another 100 pages! My family would have starved had the book been any longer! In what little writing experience I have, I usually start strong but I am not a marathoner. It doesn't take long for me to get pooped and I just sort of sloppily throw together some anemic ending. Maybe she got tired. What we got was a version that had been edited who knows how many times. I am just glad to have my life back (and so is my family).Caitlinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16912424895580552533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32806324.post-10109890157697117722008-09-22T00:14:00.000-06:002008-09-22T00:14:00.000-06:00and that's why boys & girls, I'd take ...and that's why boys & girls, I'd take Harry Potter books any day, over these Bella books...simply because in the end, the boy lost some friends, important characters were killed off, and his super powers didn't always work, but the end was still pretty great! Bella's world was just waaaaaay to perfect for me and I was hoping that Jacob would've had a chance to rip her eyes out at least if not her heart by leaving her entirely, but NOOOOO, she gets to have the best of both/all worlds *gag*gag*gag At least it only took you two days..I took two WEEKS.kanabokehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17585672400405334899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32806324.post-45961339239630977042008-09-19T14:28:00.000-06:002008-09-19T14:28:00.000-06:00I was TOTALLY let down with absolutely no war at t...I was TOTALLY let down with absolutely no war at the end of the book...what a rip-off. I had a love-hate feeling of Breaking Dawn. Some parts I loved (wedding & wedding night & all of Jacob's chapters) and some parts I hated (too many to mention). But I, too, could not put that sucker down until I finished it. Why is that? She has us all hooked! And I'm not sure if I can stomach going to the movie.
TiffanyHarding Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02436452808141325100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32806324.post-69779642097191933232008-09-16T19:21:00.000-06:002008-09-16T19:21:00.000-06:00I must have enjoyed Breaking Dawn because I read i...I must have enjoyed Breaking Dawn because I read it, but I thought it was tedious -- and even considered not finishing it. While I don't disagree with you entirely, overall I didn't think it was very well-written; it seemed way too long to me.
I totally agree with you about the war at the end, though. I felt like the lead-in to that was a gross waste of time.Z. I just do NOT buy it for a moment. I have written WAY too many long emails about why I think it's crap.

I wish she'd just ended with Eclipse, when there was some excellent emotional tension and Bella finally got a bit more mature (I was annoyed that she went back to being whiney and weird about the wedding in the fourth book beginning).

Anyway, glad you enjoyed it :)Janssenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13178196211079230972noreply@blogger.com
