Now My Brain Really Is Exploding

Okay, this latest Mormon you've-got-to-be-kidding-me thing makes my last post look stupid. I was going to keep the last post up for a few more days to get some more discussion going because I think it is very interesting, and I'm definitely going to reply to Karate Mommy, but Plantboy found this link on MSN today and I just had to blog.

This is completely apalling to me. Still, I had to laugh at how airbrushed these guys look. Please view and comment. Now this is a discussion worth having.

Four words: Complete and utter disgust.

Oh, and also, talk about 12 guys who don't comprehend or respect what they did in the temple.

And furthermore, HOW IN BLUE BLAZES IS THAT ANY DIFFERENT FROM A SUGGESTIVE WOMAN MODEL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Perhaps I should be concerned that Mr. April's hypocritical disrespect for women raised my blood pressure more than his hypocritical disrespect for garments.

Yep. Head exploding. I love the rationale "Oh, well, he's home from his mission, so therefore he's just representing himself." Sorry, Skippy. Did you learn nothing?

Part of me is just sort of rolling my eyes and thinking that I'd smack my son if he pulled a stunt like this. The other part of me wants to smack these boys straight out right now.

How disrespectful. To the church, their beliefs, their families, and themselves. Do they want to show the world that instead of being distinguished young men, mormon boys are just vain, and attention seeking? No one is going to buy this calendar to see that mormon boys aren't all goody-two-shoes. They're going to buy it to see hot guys with their shirts off. Wrong message sent lads.

"What do you say to that?" Oh sure "mormons are just regular people too." Sorry, bucko- regular people do not pose with no clothes. Especially people who claim that they believe their bodies are a temple. What ever happened to every mormon a misionary? (only when you are not an egotistical male; young and beautiful). I feel very up in arms- but mostly so very sad. (Smack em for me, Desmama)

I created an account just to comment on this. How ya doin, STM?

This is wrong on so many levels. Haven't we been taught modesty since Primary? Haven't these (gorgeous) young elders been teaching modesty to those that they have baptized? I can just see those people they taught going "WHAT. . .?" Modesty is something the world is lacking, not just suggestive clothing, but calling attention to yourself saying "look at me, look at me!" in any form. I hope they get a good talking to. I can't imagine how awful they'll feel about it if they ever really get it. You can't take it back now, boys.

And talk about creating unrealistic expectations. (Young woman): *sigh* I hope my eternal companion has a chest like that. Oh, they have makeup (applied by pretty girls), the photos are airbrushed, etc. etc. Even if you were to marry Mr. April, he's not gonna look like that forever girls.

I read your blog faithfully, thanks for always giving me something to think/rant about.

Yeah. There are no words.

Welcome chicagosapp!

And for all the back and forth on the last post, I'm glad to know I'm not way out in left field on this. It is just wrong.

Just last night I learned something new that relates to temple garments. You know how D&C 130:20-21 says, "... when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it was predicated." Well, I found out what law I've been obeying to receive a tremendous health blessing -- the law of not defiling the temple garment. (See my latest blog for the full scoop.)

After what I've discovered about blessings and laws, I'd say that those RMs are giving up a lot of blessing. And for what? Vanity? Attention? Worldly recognition?

In the big picture, they've sold themselves for a mess of pottage.

Emphasis on the word "mess."

Okay, a friend of mine is circulating an online boycott petition and we've come to a consensus......these look like gay models- likely part of some gay activism.

If you go to the website associated with this they are selling tee shirts that say something like, "I heart Mormon boys." They also come in men's sizes. Karatemommy also pointed this out on Nem's blog.

As disturbed as I have been since I read and commented last week- I'm switching topic. Nomad- you asked how to get music on your blog. Go to my blog and click on "create a playlist" follow the directions from there. Have fun.

Aaaaand I just read about some librarians who made a similar calendar. Except with even less clothing. And more strategically placed reading material. Seriously--if the missionaries and the librarians don't uphold the moral fibre of the world, what will???

I feel like puking. This is so terrible. The funny thing is that they really aren't models, not all that good looking. It looks like they got the 12 most desperate men for attention and signed them up. What losers.

Uggh, this is just bad. And I shudder to think of how many will be sold. To who? Young Women? Single LDS women? Non-members?

Yuck.
