Follow Up

Remember this conversation? Or this?

Here is the aftermath. Interesting, but maybe not surprising.

What choice did that stake president have?
Yesterday during my Relief Society lesson, one of the sisters -- a senior missionary from the States -- mentioned that the idea of cultural or social Mormons was one we need to dispel.
This guy obvious was nothing more than that.
But it's still oh so very sad.

I, personally, was rather surprised that a church court would warrant an AP story.

I'm reminded of the children of Israel's worhip of idols -- an influence leftover from their days in Egypt. Vegas has long worshiped the human form (sans clothing.) I'm always saddened to learn what people would rather worship instead of Christ.

Funny - just last night my dad was talking about Church members who are "one-key pianos" - who fixate on a single principle or program and forget about everything else in the Gospel that is important, too.

The saddest part of the Calender Guy article was the explanation that excommunicated people can't take the sacrament, hold callings, or attend the temple. That man gave up so much for so very little.

Wow. Makes me grateful to be married to a man who understood what it meant to be a faithful missionary -- and is still that man not only on the day he returned but 13 years later. When we realize that being different is a good thing, then Mormons won't succumb to the pressure to disprove the stereotypes in the name of "a good cause."
