New Moon Tickets

So is it called eating your words if you never actually bagged on the movie publicly? My sister called tonight to tell me that she has New Moon tickets for the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. It disturbs me a little bit to realize how excited I am. I keep telling myself that it is more about the girl time than the movie itself.

In some ways I think I liked the the movie Twilight better than the book Twilight. I never really did a review because you've all heard enough of my views about Sister Meyer's success to not really give credit to anything I might say. If I'm too complimentary then all my prior criticism looks like sour grapes. And if I'm too critical then I just seem well, jealous.

I'm not saying I'm ready to run out to and get throw pillows for my bed with life-sized images of Robert Pattison's head or anything. I just want to go to the movies with my peeps and pretend for a couple of hours that entertainment is the thing that matters most.

I agree that the movie(s) are better than the books, but only barely. Reading the series once was enough for me and the purpose of reading it was to know what my daughters were reading. Otherwise I would have put the first book down half-way through. My girls have read the books over and over and they are so pumped up for this next movie! I'll be going with them to the midnight showing only if I have to be the designated mom driver. Otherwise, I can wait for a more decent time!

I've read the books but didn't see the first movie and probably won't see the second.
Those throw pillows probably are sold out anyway. I did see 7-inch "action figures" of the characters in a Toys R Us circular, though. In case you decide you have to have SOMETHING.

This movie is going to be my guilty pleasure in a few weeks.

Sister Meyer!!!! Nan, that is hilarious.

I think it is a guilty pleasure for many of us, and we are somewhat sheepish about it. But really, there is a reason things are popular, and it's okay to indulge in a couple of hours of pure entertainment now and again, right? I'm excited too!

No Edward pillows? Too bad. Guess I'll have to send back that Twilight license plate cover I got you for Christmas, huh?

Yes, yes, and yes. I saw it Saturday night and will fully admit--I loved it. I have no shame. :)

Going on Tuesday. Full review tomorrow. Or not. ;)

Actually, Plantboy heard my favorite review so far just this morning, "New Moon is not only FOR teenage girls, but it turns you INTO a teenage girl."

I will try to suspend all of my rational impulses for a few hours and just surrender to being 15 again. It probably won't be hard--I'll be hanging out with my younger sister and her best friend from high school. The last time the three of us hung out was on a road trip to California in 1998. I sang break-up songs at the top of my lungs while I was driving and thought they were asleep. I think these two lovely Amandas bring out the drama queen in me.

Camp Jacob, baby.
