Bouquets of Newly Sharpened Pencils.

I was getting record hits--into the teens--on my last few posts, and then I had to go and post a recipe! I'll never do that again. Thanks for your token comment forecast. I guess in your case that chicken would really be "to die for." Sorry for the sick humor. But definitely try the limeaid.
I just realized that my blog is over a year old. So, Nomad, here is a happy belated birthday wish! I can hardly believe how well I've kept up with this when I've gotten to be such a shockingly poor journal writer in recent years.

I didn't have much to post on today, but here is a picture of Scallywag's missing teeth. What happened to my little boy!? We meet his teacher on Thursday and then next Tuesday he'll be at school every day. Why do the years always seem so much longer when we look forward than when we look back? Hmm . . . any ideas?

As long as I'm posting about nothing in particular, I will tell you about the weather. Upper 60's, lower 70's. A cool breeze from the North. It must be from the North, it has a definite bite to it. Today is like a perfect spring day. I wish we had a kite. I sense the beginning of Autumn in the air; it is the time of year I feel the greatest sense of change, probably because of the school thing. The year never seems old to me in December, but in late August. Nothing says "change is imminent" like thoughts of school supplies, cool nights and orange leaves. This year especially. I'm embarking on an entirely new adventure this year. What will the year hold in store for us?

I think future years seem longer because the wishes and worries are still ahead of us. Things we want seem to be such a long way off, and things we fear loom large and we worry about coping with all of them.

On the other hand, we already know how the past turns out, so it conjures up neither the stress nor the anticipation that the future does.

P.S. Sorry I didn't comment on the recipe. It sounds tasty, but I couldn't think of anything meaningful to say about it. :)

Are you trying to make all of us Texans move to Oregon with that weather update. I can't believe Ammon has lost two teeth, Charlotte still has a full mouth.

Well, Scallywag did have a full mouth by age one; I don't think Lottie had any did she?

I'm so jealous of your seasons. Your boys are growing up so handsome. I miss those big eyes of scallywag's. Forecast in Texas: hot, hotter and believe it or not- it's humid. crazy isn't it? Go fly a kite and buy school supplies! both are equally fun this time of year.

Nice, cool. We had a little break last week, but it's back to hot this week. I don't think I realized just how hot this August has been until I got the electricity bill yesterday... A/C is nice, but not cheap to run...

Oh, and Tyler turned 7 in June, and still hasn't lost any teeth. Though I noticed one of the bottom teeth starting to poke through behind the baby tooth. Think I ought to take him to the dentist???

I was the only kid in my first grade class who didn't lose any teeth. Some kids had their whole chart almost finished before I got any stickers. And I was born with teeth! No, if the big teeth start to poke through then the baby ones should loosen. It all happens pretty naturally I think. Although, mom wanted to put me in braces when I was 12 and I had four baby teeth that didn't even show signs of being loose! I had all four pulled at the dentist the same day. Misery. Like everything else with kids; it all happens in its own sweet time.

I think I was the only one thinking... 'man, that is cold.' Scallywag looks so cute with his missing teeth. I thought I did comment on the recipe, I guess I am losing my marbles and a couple of other things.

p.s. I just picked up a copy of Twilight and started it Wednesday... I should have bought it in the summer when I didn't have Chemistry, government and history to deal with... because I don't want to put it down :[

i have one more year until we embark onto school life. i think i'll be happy and sad and ready and not ready for her to go all at the same time. good luck with it all! i hope it goes smoothly. and why is it that the days drag on endlessly but the years fly by. funny how that works.

Change is always imminent.

Changing diapers. Changing our minds. Changing underwear after an unexpected sneeze. Changing out the sugar for salt to trick family members......
