Admit It, Indiana Jones Is Pretty Much a Babe

If I was a little lego-girl, I'd have to say that THIS is the guy I would really go for:

And speaking of things made in China. . . .

I think Huckabee must know his campaign is nearly at an end (funding reasons) because he was the only one willing to really tell it like it is as the various campaigning politicians gave their opinion of those fat checks coming in the mail this summer. Republicans, of course, praised Bush up and down. Democrats, of course, said it was too little too late. Huckabee? "Well, seeing as how we'll have to borrow money from the Chinese to pay for it, and most of the money will go to buy products made in China . . . it is hard to say whose economy we are really helping." Amen, preacher.

In an unrelated bit of news, what do you think you would do in this situation?

Indiana Jones is hot.

I really don't know what I'd do in that situation. I've known a few people who have had to terminate pregnancies because it was obvious that the mother would not survive. However, in each case the benefit to the mother was obvious and immediate. With advanced cancer I really don't know what I would do, because even if you terminate it's not so clear that you will live. It's a sad situation either way.

A friend of mine's wife was diagnosed with cancer while she was pregnant with their third child, a girl. They treated the cancer as much as they could, then took the baby early (as early as they could, I'm sure), but she lived only for two more weeks before passing away, leaving a husband who had just finished law school and three small wee ones (one less than two weeks old). I cried when I heard it.

Seeing the look on the Mom's face I can't say I'd change a thing...I'd probably do the same. To be able to hold your little angel til you meet them again would absolutely be worth it. Isn't the whole purpose of spirits being sent to us, to gain a body? And if our "motherly instincts" tell us that they could also possibly have a full life, then I'd hold out on treatments. Of course I say that now, but one never knows til it really and truly happens to them...

Ugh, I don't even want to think about what I would do. What a terrible situation to be in.

I knew somebody who got pregnant and then found out she had uterine cancer. She decided to keep the baby and rely on LDS Priesthood blessings. (Interestingly, she was not really active in the LDS Church at the time.) The baby eventually died about a month before he was due, and by then her cancer was so far gone she had to have a hysterectomy. It just pains me to think about it.

Welcome Sherry and Kanaboke! (At least, I don't think you've been here before.)

This situation is a hard thing. I agree that part of our purpose is to bring spirits to earth, but another part of our purpose is to raise them. I had an aunt who died when she had four little ones and their lives, in many ways, have been very hard. I don't think you could fault a mother that went either way on this one.

It's a tough choice and I don't know what I'd decide in her place, but when I see the look on the mom's face I feel more awe and joy than sadness. If you can choose how your life's going to end, could there be a sweeter way to go than giving it up to save your baby?

I don't know what I would do... pray about it I guess. The girl Desmama was talking about was in our ward; it was very sad. She actually died days after delivering the baby (baby will be 1 year old in about a month.) I spoke to a couple of people (non-members) who were very critical of her decision, saying she was selfish and what about her other kids... then one of them spoke up and said that her mother did the same thing and that she wouldn't be here is her mother had had the abortion - people got pretty quiet after that.
